SiarScéal Festival 2020 will go ahead later this year, circumstances permitting, taking place over two days: Friday and Saturday, 2-3 October.

While we are conscious of current Government restrictions on public gatherings, we will be monitoring the situation closely and making a decision in respect of a venue closer to the time. In the event that we cannot go ahead with a public gathering, we will utilise online social media platforms for this purpose of hosting a 'virtual festival'.

The Hanna Greally International Literary Awards will take place, with prizes awarded even if a public presentation ceremony cannot be held. Entries are now being accepted and will continue to be up until the closing date of 5pm on Thursday, 10 September. Entries may consist of poetry, prose, short stories and there is every reason to get them in: the Overall Prize in this year's competition is €400, with two Runners Up prizes of €100 each also being awarded. For further information, see our Competition page.

The highlight of this year's festival will be the publication of Beneath Western Skies anthology, compiled and edited by poet and author, Anni Wilton-Jones from winning entries at last year's festival, which also saw the launch of the Beneath Western Skies exhibition that subsequently went on tour of venues across Ireland.

Copies of the anthology will be available to buy online and at the festival itself, assuming that a public gathering takes place. Further details will be announced closer to the time.

Full details about SiarScéal Festival 2020, including changes to the schedule, will be posted to the Festival page on our website.

A programme of events is also available to download and share.
