Date and Venue
SiarScéal Festival Celebration 2023 will take place on Saturday, 21 October at Roscommon County Library, Abbey Street, Roscommon Town.
Programme of Events
Announcement and presentation of the Hanna Greally Literary Awards (see below) will form part of the festival proceedings.
A symposium of young writers from Roscommon, Sligo and Leitrim will read from work contained in their own handmade book, produced with the help of artist Vanya Ward. The occasion will also be broadcast on The Arts Programme with Ursula Ledwith on Ros FM.
Hanna Greally Literary Awards
The Hanna Greally Literary Awards have been a feature of the SiarScéal Festival since its inception, in 2007. There is an overall prize fund of €400 with two prizes of €200 going to the overall winners for best poem and best prose/short story entry. The closing date for entry is Friday, 22 September 2023. Further Information
SiarScéal celebrates the history and culture of the Roscommon environs and regional counties of Leitrim and Sligo annually, through all art forms. The festival was established to create a space in which each community, living in and around the region, can celebrate their townland and environs through the media of poetry, art, music, photography, social history via exhibitions, readings, recitals. It seeks to bring a range of cultural, heritage and historical activities, in a performance-related manner, into a comprehensive program. We look forward to seeing you at SiarScéal Festival 2022.
