SiarScéal Festival 2022 will take place on Saturday, 12 November at Roscommon County Library HQ, Abbey Street, Roscommon Town starting 10am

Programme of Events

Update: The launch of the book, The Word According to Crow by Sinead McClure will be included in this year's festival proceedings. Sinead is a writer, radio producer and illustrator. In June 2022, she won the Roscommon Chapbook Bursary for this collection, copies of which will be on sale on the day. 10 am Official launch of SiarScéal Festival 2022, presided over by Cllr Tom Crosby, Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council

10.30 am Opening address accompanied by guest speaker, Sandra Turner, Roscommon County Council, County Librarian

10.40 am Author, poet, musician Mary Branley, adjudicator of the adult section of the Hanna Greally Literary Awards, facilitator of Hanna Greally Participating Schools workshops

10.50 am Presentation of the Hanna Greally Literary Awards by the Cathaoirleach Cllr Tom Crosby

11.15 am Musical interlude

11.30 am Readings from Hanna Greally Literary Award Winners

1 pm Lunch provided and supported by Roscommon County Council, Library Services

2 pm - 4.30 pm Open mike

Hanna Greally Literary Awards

The Hanna Greally Literary Awards have been a feature of the SiarScéal Festival since its inception, in 2007. This year’s theme is Sunlit Mornings, Ebbing Tides. There is an overall prize fund of €600 with two prizes of €200 going to the overall winners for best poem and best prose/short story entry. The closing date for entry is Friday, 14 October 2022. SiarScéal celebrates the history and culture of the Roscommon environs and regional counties of Leitrim and Sligo annually, through all art forms. The festival was established to create a space in which each community, living in and around the region, can celebrate their townland and environs through the media of poetry, art, music, photography, social history via exhibitions, readings, recitals. It seeks to bring a range of cultural, heritage and historical activities, in a performance-related manner, into a comprehensive program. We look forward to seeing you at SiarScéal Festival 2022.
